The Chameleons
The Chameleons were formed in Middleton in 1981 comprising of Mark Burgess, Reg Smithies, Dave Fielding and John Lever. After some initial success they were able to release some stuff but failing to maintain that success moved to the independant Statik label and enjoyed more album success. They gathered a fan club through much touring but all went pear shaped when their manager died leaving the group in chaos. First to go was lead singer Mark Burgess and two other members, Reg and Dave formed new groups such as The Reegs.The Chameleons have since re-formed and their website can be found at www.thechameleons.com
