For some time this page has remained blank while I have been figuring out how to work this service for Midd folk. Privacy and security is a must but what I didn't want was expensive telephone systems which rip people off.
The answer has now come in the form of a forum. After developing a general chat forum for the site, I figured another forum just dedicated to a meeting zone was the perfect and safe way to work it.
You can have a nick-name and post your message just like in the papers. Say a little about yourself and who you are looking for, then receive private messages from people seeking the same. The difference is there are no expensive premium phone rates. It's completely free! Why not give it a go?
You can build a profile disclosing only info you are comfortable with and add a picture of your choice. You can reply to other people's comments and message other users privately and add them as your friend.
For anyone unfamiliar with using forums, this is just a brief guide on how to get started. Firstly, remember to register initially. You cannot log-in until you have registered which requires a few details. You will be asked to choose a user name and password so you should think about these before registering, although you will be sent a reminder later by e-mail which you should write down too for your own records in case the e-mail is lost. You will also be asked for your e-mail address which will only be seen by admin (me).
Then that is pretty much it and you are ready to log in and get started. It might take a little getting used to at first and as it is new to me too, there might be some teething problems so I would really appreciate you alerting me to any problems you may experience using the forum.
A brief guide to the Meeting Place
You are invited to post an introduction. Please include the usual, age, description, status, interests and describe the type of person you are looking for. Please also confirm you are in Middleton and possibly what area.
Your e-mail address will only be seen by admin and not disclosed to any other party. It is then up to you to decide whether or not to disclose personal contact addresses or numbers by private message once you start chatting. Please be cautious until you are sure you trust anyone you befriend. Admin cannot be held responsible for anything going wrong once you give your details privately.
Be cheeky if you like and honest about what you are looking for but please save any explicit language for private messages away from the board. Also do respect other users and ensure they are ok with anything 'naughty' before just assuming so! Persistent unnecessary language in posts may result in being blocked from the forum as well as complaints about persistent unwanted private messages. If someone doesn't answer your message, try again but if still no answer this probably means they are not interested. Please also accept polite declines of your offer of friendship for what they are and don't take it to heart.
